1. What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?
Ive learnt a lot about after effects, since id never used the program before this project. Ive learnt the basics and some specific things, especially about camera control and interfacing between photoshop and after effects. I've also learnt about using timelines and storyboards to lay out a video or animation, and learnt a lot more about pacing and the mechanics of video.

2. What approaches to generating work and solutions to problems have you developed and how have they helped?
Storyboarding and timelining has helped, i planned out a lot more in this project due to the necessity when working with video. I found the internet a valuable source of information when trying to overcome problems in the techical aspect of after effects. The experts at college have also helped when i ran into problems and i have learnt to ask for help quickly.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?
I like the strong visual style of the video, i think by giving it a overall theme, it brings the video together. I think the music also works well, and doesnt seem laid over the top of the piece. I think the line also leads you through the video nicely.

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how could you exploit these more fully?
I think the presentation and polish of the final thing could be worked on with more time, i think i could of been more dynamic and exciting with the finished piece, but i was restricted by my lack of knowledge of the program i was working with. I think i could of been more adventurous.

5. Identify five things that you will do different next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?
Next time i will try to be more adventurous with the composition so that i learn more and probably get a better result. I will aim to finish the project earlier so i get more time to smarten it up and will be more prepared for any mishaps along the way. I will also look at using illustrator as i feel i could of achieved a better effect for some of the video if i had used that program correctly especially through after effects. I will plan out more options and do more research into different artists tackling the same thing, because i found it hard to find relevent research for this project. I would also try and write the music myself so it fit perfectly to what is wanted, so the overall result is better.

Nicholas Di Genova

Been following this guy for a while, he mixes an almost cartoonish rendoring of scenery with massive detail, it looks incredible i could look at it for hours.

Andy Potts

Amazing use of colour in these that ties it all together, he uses so many random bits and pieces, yet they work together as a whole.

Idea/backdrop for video

Some of the elements of the video, its basically going to be side scrolling following the line through up and under all the buildings with different events happening along the way.

Clip of work so far...

Heres a clip of some of the work so far, you can get a feel for the style that runs throughout, it needs a lot of polish but you get an idea.

Skizzomat

Skizzomat has excellent use of colour between the black and white and the colour bits. Colour is used sparingly but to great effect.

Lisa Schibel

Lisa Schibel, i really like her style of layering like a college different buildings and effects then bringing them together with the clean titlebar.
